When I first started thinking about leaving my corporate career, I felt like a total fraud. I had spend years climbing the corporate ladder, and het the moment I thought about starting my own coaching, consulting or education business, I felt like I was back at square one.

  1. What is the one thing people always come to you to “pick your brain” about?
  2. Which projects made you forget to eat lunch because you were so in the zone?

  4. What complex problem do you find “easy” that others seem to struggle with?
  5. What are the top three “wins” you’ve had in the last five years? What specific transferrable skills made those wins possible?
  6. What parts of your current “Head of” role feel like play, not work?
  7. If you removed your current job title, how would you describe what you do to a 10 year old?
  8. What is the “secret sauce” you use to get people to say yes to your ideas?

How do I know if my skills can become a service business?
Almost any high-level corporate skill can be turned into a coaching, consulting, advisory, or education offer. If there is a problem in business that you know how to solve, someone is willing to pay you to help them solve it.

Do I need a new degree to start a service business?
You do not. While certifications can be helpful, your 15+ years of “in the trenches” experience is often more valuable to a client than a piece of paper. Your results are your credentials.

What if I’m great at something but I’m burnt out on it?
Then we do not include it in your new business model! The goal of transitioning out is to build a life you love, not a new job you hate. This is why the “What I Love” column in our audit is so vital.

How do I explain this transition to my corporate network?
